A browser extension reads Slack through its official API using credentials you create, writes the results straight to your Firebase, and the web app then lets you browse, search and export that archive. How it works

Create your own Slack app You register a Slack app in your workspace and grant it read scopes. The credentials belong to you, not to SlackVault.

Point it at your Firebase project Add your Firebase web config in settings. Every message and file record is written to that project and counts against your quota.

Install the browser extension The extension is what actually calls the Slack API. It runs in your browser, so message content never passes through a server we operate.

Sync, then browse or export Run a sync to pull channels, messages, threads and files, then search the archive or export it as JSON, CSV or PDF.

Frequently asked questionsWhere is my backed-up Slack data stored?In the Firebase project you create and control. SlackVault has no central database holding your messages, which also means recovery is your responsibility.Do I need the browser extension?Yes. The website alone cannot read Slack. The extension performs every Slack API call, so syncing only happens while it is installed and running.Can SlackVault recover messages Slack has already hidden?No. It can only archive what the Slack API returns for your plan. On plans that limit history access, older messages are not available to any API client.Is it really zero-cost?There is no charge from SlackVault.
