Install the SlackVault extensionThe SlackVault browser extension is the component that reads your Slack workspace, and nothing syncs without it. It runs on Chromium-based browsers, which today means Chrome, Edge or Brave, and is loaded manually as an unpacked extension rather than from a web store. This page covers the requirements, the install steps and what to check if a sync never starts.What this covers

Requires Chrome, Edge or Brave. Firefox and Safari are not supported.

Requires a Slack workspace where you can install an app.

Requires a Firebase account for storage.

Needs roughly 5 MB of disk space.

How it works

Download the extension archive Get the current build from the install page and save the ZIP file locally.

Extract the ZIP Unpack it to a folder you will keep. Deleting that folder later removes the extension.

Open your browser extensions page Go to the extensions manager, for example chrome://extensions in Chrome.

Enable developer mode Unpacked extensions can only be loaded with developer mode switched on, which is why this step exists.

Load the unpacked folder Choose Load unpacked and select the extracted folder. The extension icon appears when it registers.

What SlackVault does not do

It is not currently distributed through the Chrome Web Store, so it does not auto-update. New versions are installed the same manual way.

Developer mode must stay enabled for an unpacked extension to keep running.

Firefox and Safari builds are not available.

Installing the extension alone does nothing until a Slack app and Firebase project are configured.
