Using the browser extensionThe SlackVault browser extension is the only component that talks to Slack, so it is where syncing is started, monitored and controlled. It fetches conversations through the Slack API and writes them directly to your Firebase project, meaning message content moves from Slack to your storage without passing through a server operated by SlackVault. It only runs while your browser is running.What this covers

Automatic sync on a cadence you configure.

A sync dashboard showing progress and recent runs.

Granular control over which channels are included.

Notifications when a sync finishes or fails.

Search and export reachable from the archive once data has synced.

What SlackVault does not do

Syncing stops when the browser is closed. There is no background server continuing the job.

Slack rate limits apply, so very large workspaces sync gradually rather than all at once.

A failed sync leaves the archive partially updated; the next run continues from where it can.
